I am at my wits end. I have a shrub line of Arbovitaes, 22 of them, apox 6 feet from the side walk..on a burm...welldrained...and have a drip system to keep them watered. They are about 2.5 years old and 7' tall. At least 10 of the 22 have what I call drooping stems. It looks like when snow gets between the stems and makes the plant look like a banna being pealed. On some of them there is browning on the plant esp. at the bottom and at the tips. There is new growth on80% of even the bad plants. Aside from not looking very good I am afraid that the weight of the leafs will break the branchs. What causes this wilting in the shrub. I have check for insect and mites and from what the eye can see it looks OK. DO I need to prun them to get the weight off...if so will they grow back, I am trying to make a hedge out of them. Some one please help and reply to my email address rcoluzzi@rjcdesigns.com
