Did they already bloom? mine haven't even developed their flower stalks. As they bloom in July, I don't expect to see stalks for another few weeks. What I do is this: After the flowers brown, I like to leave the remains as they are - erect stalks with fuzzyness where the flowers were. The small birds - goldfinches - love the seeds. Plus, they add fall and winter interest to my garden. If yours has already bloomed, try cutting the flower stalk as far down as you can get your pruners in. I wouldn't be surprised if they flower again. Good luck!
