My husband and I laid 50 strips of sod in our back yard. We live in a suburban neighborhood in Kansas, but behind our home is a small/thin woods. I have noticed ground hogs, fox, rabbits, large rats ewww, deer, mole holes, and squirrels populate the woods. Lately, we wake to find horror in our back yard! Something is ripping up our new sod in the night all over the yard repeatedly ($$$$$). We even installed flood lights on the home to light up the yard. It doesn't work. Around our landscaping beds under the trees the new sod is literally shredded and ripped back. This has to be being done with force because to the degree it is ripped back. Our neighbor who our yard joins (we haven't installed a fence yet) has a 3'T x 10"W block of heavy wood wedged into a 10" gap in the back fence on his side, bricks stacked in front of that to keep out animals (we have massive flowers and things to protect). Every morning when this thing strikes, the block is pushed out (hard thing to do), bricks knocked over. What is doing this?
