Last year I planted several lavender plants; only one returned to my zone 5 garden. Mulch well in the fall after blooms have faded; cut back halfway in the spring before new growth appears. While the one that returned this year looks good and is blooming, it's leggy and not bushy and I had to stake it. I'm going to prune in the spring this time.
