You are correct in adding lime to the soil around your hydrangea to turn it red. I read that you need to add one cup of lime per 10 square feet and water into the soil. It may take up to a year for your Hydrangea to show noticeable color change, so patience is needed. As far as feeding your Hydrangea, you can give it an all-purpose fertilizer, once established, every two weeks. Good soil is the real key to proper nutrient intake, though, so you may want to top-dress (spread around the general area) your Hydrangea with some compost. This will also aid in the plant not suffering as much if the soil dries out. Good luck!
