Posted by Kathleen on 11/17/2001, 3:08 pm Impatiens are annuals, therefore, they will completely die with the impending winter, however, If you live in a far southern climate, your impatiens may survive through the winter and/or actually come back next summer. If you live in an area where there is noticable temperature changes from summer to winter, then - once they look like they're on their last life - your impatiens should be pulled from the ground and thrown into the compost pile. I don't recommend digging them up and attempting to bring them indoors as by now they may not look too nice plus there is a chance they will transmit insects to your indoor plants.
