Posted by Sue on 11/19/2001, 7:20 am You can pretty much leave your Black-eyed susans as they are - to die back naturally. The small birds will appreciate the food supply during the winter. I would suggest, though, that you clean up the ground around the plants (decaying foliage and other debris) so insects and small rodents aren't attracted to the "protection" the debris may provide.
