Posted by Mike The time for transplanting depends on whether it is evergreen or deciduous. Deciduous shrubs are best transplanted when they have lost their leaves and are dormant or semi dormant - winter time. Evergreens are best planted in spring or fall. They will need to be well watered for the first season. In Texas fall planting would be better so they can get established before the summer. Also it helps the evergreen to establish quicker if you cut off say about half of the leaves to reduce water loss. Protect from wind and mulch the roots for the same reason. You can also buy a clear plastic-like spray to apply over the leaves - if you are moving a number of shrubs. Hope this helps. Mike
