I received the gift of life in the form of a liver transplant on 7/14/98... I was 49 years old at the time, and living in Texas... My surgery was done at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
My sister Susie lived 1,800 miles away in Calif., and was one of my biggest supporters... Susie turned 47 on August 11, 1998, and because someone else cared enough to be an organ donor my Susie wanted to become one also, and so she did... On Nov. 19, 1998 my beloved sister died suddenly from complications associated with COPD,(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.) Because of her generous heart and unselfish nature her spirit lives on in 8 others who like me were fortunate enough to receive the gift of life... I thank God everyday for giving me such a wonderful sister and take comfort in knowing she is resting peacefully with God's arms around her....
