I mostly fish Murray and I always purchase a "load" of blue back herring when I go out and that is 10 dozen. Even in the warmest part of summer I don't lose that many. I have also kept 3 1/2 dozen dollar bill size gizzards over night and the next day with no problem. With any brand of tank or size of tank, changing the water is critical if you are going to keep bait more than 6 or 8 hours (a day of fishing). I do use charcoal in the warmer parts of the year and that can be bought at any pet store. The tank is insulated on all sides and the bottom so water temps stay stable. Also the filter area is molded into the tank and located above the holding area for the bait so you get the entire 25 gallons to hold bait. In most 40 gallon tanks 1/3 of the tank is wasted for the filter area so you still only have 25 gal of bait holding area. See Grayline's website.

Let me know if you have any other questions. This will be the last tank you will buy unless you upgrade to a 40 or 50 gal oval like I did.
