north of Buffalo Shoals Road

I have never been north of Buffalo Shoals Road on the river. Would like to go all the way to the Lookout Dam. What is the depth like north of Buffalo Shoals Road? Any hazards other than the rocks at the dam that I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for any advice. Can't afford to tear up my boat.
