SONY BMG RECALL CDs WITH XCP TECHNOLOGY
You may be aware of the recent attention given to the XCP content protection software included on some Sony BMG CDs. Security concerns have been raised regarding the use of CDs containing this XCP software on computers (the softward does not affect conventional, non-computer-based CD and/or DVD players). As a result, Sony BMG have decided to recall all the CDs they released containing this technology.
They will be repressing all the recalled titles w/out XCP but right now we're not sure how long it will be before all the CDs come back in stock. If you've purchased an XCP CD from Waterloo and would like to exchange it, we'll gladly issue a credit for the full amount of purchase now, or swap it our for a non-XCP version of the album when we get them from the label. FOUR DEAD BATTERIES RELEASE PARTY WITH WHIT SMITH – 11/22 AT THE ELEPHANT ROOM
This week sees the release on DVD of the quirky indie comedy Four Dead Batteries. Winner of eleven
2004-2005 film festival awards, the movie features a soundtrack of hot jazz & western swing by the Hot Club of Cowtown and five newly recorded tracks by Whit Smith's Hot Jazz Caravan. The soundtrack is also available this week and in celebration, Whit Smith's Hot Jazz Caravan will be playing a special release party on Tuesday, 11/22 at the Elephant Room. It's an early show, from 6-9pm and Waterloo will be out at the show selling CDs and DVDs. Stop by and get your copies signed by Whit and the boys!
This Friday, November 25th, volume 13 of KGSR's annual Broadcasts series will be in stores. We'll be open early at 8am on Friday so if you're out taking advantage of the holiday sales, stop by and pick up your copy. And if that's not enough reason to stop by Waterloo this weekend, from Friday through Sunday we'll have a sign-up box in the store where you can register for the chance to win tickets to KGSR's 15th anniversary concert at the Austin Music Hall on Friday, December 2nd. This years concert features performances by Rodney Crowell, Kathleen Edwards, the Greencards plus special guests!
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE DVD VIEWING PARTY TUESDAY, 11/22 AT 6PM
This Tuesday (11/22) sees the release of the first ever Queens of the Stone Age live album, in the form of a combined DVD/CD package. Over the Years and Through the Woods features performances recorded live in 2005 plus bonus, rare historical, acoustic and behind the scenes footage capturing the band on the rise. We'll be playing the entire DVD in the store at 6pm tomorrow, the day of its release, so swing by and get a look at the video before you pick one up. If you're not a fan, it's a perfect opportunity to be initiated into the cult of QOTSA!
ACL PREVIEW PARTY AT PAGGI HOUSE, TUESDAY, 11/22 FROM 8-10PM
Join the folks from Austin City Limits and Capital Sports and Entertainment this Tuesday, November, 22nd at Paggi House (200 Lee Barton Dr.) from 8-10pm for their weekly ACL Viewing Party . They'll be showing an encore airing of the episode with Tom Waits and a sneak preview of the upcoming episode with Widespread Panic.
