LOCAL AUSTIN MUSICIANS TO HOST BENEFIT CONCERT

AUSTIN – Malford Milligan, Natalie Zoe, Mike Cross, and other local Austin musicians will host a benefit concert on August 7 from 6-10 p.m. at North by Northwest Restaurant & Brewery (NXNW) to help defray medical expenses for local music supporters Duggan and Nancy Flanakin.

Many local musicians know Duggan Flanakin through his attendance at gigs, and through his Flanfire music blog, http://flanfire.blogspot.com, where he writes of music experiences, travels, and his observations on life in central Texas.

Flanakin’s wife, Nancy, has been struggling with cancer for several months. Diagnoses complications and continued alterations in treatment have left the couple at the end of their financial rope. Nancy’s healthcare insurance, as with millions of other Americans, depends entirely on her job, which she is presently unable to perform.

Natalie Zoe and other local musician friends came together to host an Austin-tastic benefit concert to raise funds for Nancy’s mounting medical expenses.

“Duggan was there for us when we needed support to get our music out there, and now we’re proud to be there for him and his wonderful wife in their time of need,” Natalie Zoe said.

NXNW, located behind the Gateway Shopping Center at 10010 Capital of Texas Highway North, graciously donated their restaurant for the benefit concert. “This is also so people can purchase tickets who may not be able to attend but still want to make a donation,” Flanakin said.

The concert line-up includes Malford Milligan, Natalie Zoe and Mike Cross, Shelley King, Carolyn Wonderland & Papa Mali with The Golden Crown Harmonizers, Wendy Colonna, Bryce Clifford, and other special guests (order to be determined.)

Austin’s the live music capital of the world – so come out to NXNW on August 7 to catch original Austin artists while enjoying a NXNW hand-brewed beer.
