Nashville, TENNESSEE--Jill King (Blue Diamond Records) is turning heads. She recently had the distinction of being named the Indie Breakout Artist For 2003 by Music Row Magazine. This award is based upon number of spins accumulated from the Music Row reporting stations and given to the artist, group or duo on an indie label whose first single peaked and who received the most airplay during the year 2003.
"We're pleased to award Jill King our inaugural Indie Breakout Artist Award. Her hard work and undeniable talent have led to three successive hits on the
Music Row CountryBreakout chart. It's time for the rest of the world to discover what our reporting panel already knowsJill King is a star."
---John Hood, Chart Director, Music Row Magazine
King's debut single, "One Mississippi," from her album, Jillbilly, peaked at No. 20 in May of 2003 and her second single, "Hand Me Down Heartache," reached No. 23 in October. Her current single, "98.6 Degrees," which is receiving rave reviews, is shooting up the chart and is at No. 28 and has only been out for 7 weeks.
"The fact that Music Row created these awards and chose to include a category called 'Indie Breakout Artist' makes it an honor to be associatedwith this trade and this panel," stated King.
King isn't slowing down. She will be heading to Europe this year to perform at various festivals including; Festival Rendezvous in Crappone, France on July 25, Sweden on July 31, and Country Gold in Japan on Oct. 17.
