I've been trying to talk Bri into visiting St. Helena & Ascension Island sometime, but you have to go aboard a mail ship from the UK or AF from the states. There are also a number of islands off the Aussie coast that either fall under their control or are tied closely, if you ever decide to check out of society there are plenty of places to go. The Falklands only have 3,000 people living there, whooda thunk it. --Previous Message-- Link: Cook Islands

: Furthermore, real estate is very scarce for
: foreigners wishing to own island real
: estate. Guernsey only opens 1,800 or so
: residences up for foreign purchase. Now,
: tell us something about the Faroe Islands.

: and did you know, Norm, they also serve as

: Some fun facts about the Channel Islands,
: where my track team visited as a part of our
: overseas tour after senior year of college:
: - It was the only portion of the United
: Kingdom to fall to Nazi Germany. You can
: still see tons of fortifications there.
:
: - Victor Hugo (Les Miserables, etc.) used to
: write there. Think he may have died there,
: too.
:
: - the islands sit in the middle of the
: Channel (duh), really close to France.
: Because of the currents, it's a much more
: sunny and (almost) tropical sort of climate.
:
: - Cornell and Penn college students hold the
: majority of the track records there, so I
: can't imagine that their Commonwealth teams
: are too formidable.
:
: I am a fortress of useless information.
: Miss you guys, and safe travels to you, Bri.
: Give a ring if you have a moment when
: you're back in Florida.
