Airport cars will pick you up at Stansted and take you to gatwick for about $200 Alternatively you could rent a car for a day and it'll cost you about $150 all told. Everything is very expensive in the UK and they will take every opportunity to make a fast buck or two. Anyway, just a thought - you may have it already taken care of in which case ignore this. taking a taxi from Stansted to Gatwick may cost you in the region of $300 - maybe more.
A taxi from London Heathrow to the center of london which is only 1 hour is about $100 and the journey you are doing is way further.
