I believe the whole league player eligibility needs relooking at with the restructuring of the county leagues. Heres my suggestion.
Each team should be allowed to play
1 North Lancs Premier player regardless of their age (defined by having played 5 games or more at this level the previous season),
1 North Lancs Div 1 player (5 games or more) &
a maximum of 6 other league players (North Lancs Div 2, Cumbria League, Eden Valley League)(currently 10 games or more).
All under 16's on 1st April, except for those having played 5 games in the North Lancs Premier League, to be exempt from the above restrictions.
As for non-league players it would be difficult to handicap them.
Maybe if they were to take 4+ wickets in a match they could only bowl 3 overs in their following game and similar for batsman, if they got a 50 they would have to retire in the following game at 29+ a shot. Just a one match restriction though.
Only problem with this is that you could end up playing a team with 2 or 3 players restricted one week yet another would play them the following week without any restrictions thus an imbalance happens. May even itself out over a season mind?
Interesting to read others thoughts on all this.
: I am seeking other players oppinions on how we
: grade our League / Non league players each
: year. I undersatand why we do so to even out
: the League but there are some very very good
: Non league players out there that are
: actually better than quite a few of our
: League players. Is it possible that we can
: also restrict some Non League players
: depending on their previous seasons stats in
: our League. This would make it fairer for
: the less abled players who want to enjoy a
: fair and even league.
