Posted by Keith Dowber on 7/17/2007, 7:55 am 1. Why did Windscale & WCLS who are the two southern most teams in the league have to treck all the way to Cockermouth for a cup semi? It's not a great way to play a semi final especially after having travelled so far from both our bases anyway. Can we attempt in the future to allow a bit of flexibility in venues for semi's etc and also make sure we check a week in advance that venues are actually available. This isn't the first time this has happened. I appreciate how hard it is to organise so many competitions and matches but we need to get it right.

A few points here:
2. I know the venies are pre-booked (sort of and we will come to that further down) but surely we can re-arrange a semi if it is agreed between both participating clubs.
3. Both clubs play on a grass strip and we were scheduled to use an artificial one for a semi......Great.
4. Now for the best one, We all arrived at Sandair to find that Cockermouth had never actually been asked if we could play there. The pitch was already being used. So we beg stole and borrowed some stumps then went to Cockermouth School on the off chance that it was free. We used Can's bottles etc for boundary markers and then somehow managed to play a game (No scoreboard of course).
