Is anyone else confused on this issue? The whole "Most Valuable Player" thing? Back in 1998, Mark McGwire had the greatest single season in baseball history. He lost the MVP award to Sosa, who played for the - excuse me while I laugh - playoff bound Cubs. The whole excuse given by the writers for this oversight was the fact that the MVP should come from a playoff team. I bought it, hestitently, back then. Now, the great Albert Pujols, of the WORLD CHAMPION ST. LOUIS CARDINALS, has lost the MVP to Ryan Howard of the not-even-wild-card-philadelphia-phillies? Is this some sort of Cardinal bias? If anyone out there can explain it to me, please do. Oh, and why the greatest home run hitter in the history of the game - the great Mac, of course - apparently does not belong in the HOF as a first balloter. Thanks.
