Hey Tim, How long has it been since you were in a school classroom. Teachers do thier jobs and do them well. We do expect the respect you talked about, and we get it from most students. Instead of mouth about us, get and volunteer at a school and see for yourself. My whole point of all of this was just to say that it would be nice for teachers ( and others in the fields of helping others) would get respect from the public.
It is obvious from some of the postings on here that we don't. Students see that attitude from the public and bring it into the schools. I singled out David Beckham in my post, but I feel the same about all athletes and celebrities. I am not asking for millions, but it would be nice for teachers to make a salary that shows we are appreciated for what we do and to be able to work in facilities that aren't falling in around us and that aren't overcrowded. Let students and the rest of the public see teachers (firemen, police officers) celebrated in the public eye.
