This is a very mature response. Your love and respect for someone has more integrity when you see their flaws and forgive them. It broke my heart to hear of school teachers taking posters down and kids putting their framed autographed jerseys in the closet.
Listen, if your parents let you down, do you tear their pictures off of the wall or do you show character by loving them despite their shortcomings while still appreciating everything good about them.
No matter what, we still have our memories, and we appreciate the way he has impacted our lives. That is valuable and should be kept dear, especially in the face of the unflattering things.
