I'm as big a Mac fan as anyone. It's totally obvious he's as guilty as anyone. He "non-admission" sealed the deal. Not too mention weighing around 275lbs of solid muscle (not the 250lb he was listed at). I believe up to 90% all all MLB players were using something at some point during the late 90's.
The only defense I have for McGwire it that I feel his steroid/hgh use had the smallest effect on his numbers compared to Sosa, Bonds, etc. I think for him it was more a matter of allowing him to stay in the lineup enough (from a health standpoint) to have the opportunity to break records. But, as an educated bodybuilder, McGwire's physical appearance is the poster for what steroids and HGH in particular can do.
I think most of his die hard fans have finally accepted his guilt....so I'm a bit surprised by your post.
