I understand what you are saying. I guess I am just old school and a little more forgiving. Forgiving because Mark isn't like the rest of these "role models". He walks the walk. He was always a team player and does so much for the less fortunate.
He said how when he broke Maris' record that it touched him. Well it touched me too because he could have just accepted all the accolades and not stopped the game to go and see Roger's family or even mentioned his name, saying that he was humbled by their bats being next to one another in the Hall. He gave back by honoring the memory and respecting another decent man.
You can call me biased, I admit it. I wouldn't bang the drum so much for Bonds or Rose but I believe they belong in the Hall too. Then you have people doing far worse, for example Steve Howe (God rest his soul) a hero for some but a 7 time violator. That was a joke.
I do abhor a liar. I am the commisioner in so many Fantasy Leagues and people respect the fact that I don't lie or cheat, but it was something I learned with age and experience. The lawyers were trying to get immunity and it didn't come about, it's no excuse but that's why he never admitted to it at the hearings, as advised by his lawyers.
I just think this one guy deserves some slack. Headlines here in NY give him the same notariety as Arenas or Burress, it does not even equate and you sometimes get tired of it. So if I can change one persons, or some of your opinion then I have accomplished something.
