What did McGwire lie about? He never said he didn't take steroids. It didn't matter what he said, people just want to hear the dirt. People said come clean and it would be ok, well he did, now they say it wasn't good enough. People need to get over themselves. Steroids are not a good thing, but if you could take some supplement that enables you to make millions of dollars in your job, wouldn't you do it? There was a lot of players doing it, and excuses will be made to allow Bonds, Clemens in the HOF, regardless there are many cheats in the HOF already. How many players took amphetemines? It used to be the old version of steriods. Whitey Ford, Gaylord Perry messed with baseball to get an edge, how many players corked their bats before they started looking? What about all the legal supplements, or these institutes that measure atheletes and help them achieve peek performance, those ar performance enhancers. The bottom line is baseball allowed the behavior and steriods into the game and whatever was achieved with them must be accepted, once they outlawed it and put in regulations then it needs to be taken into account AFTER the fact.
