I too have a storie of a type of "ghost dog' creature and mine too happened near a creek....
One day when I was around 10 years old me and a friend of mine where playing guns (weren't we cool) in the woods about a half an hour walk away from my freinds house...anywyas we were about to go home becuase it started to get dark and we were not that brave...we started walking along a near by brook and as we did we heard a terrible howling/squealing noise! we turned to see what was making the noise horrible noise and thats when we saw the....the thing! it was huge!!!! about the size of a bear(maybe bigger) it had a huge mouth that had alot of sharp teeth!!! and we were scared out of are minds o we just hauled ass out of those woods!!!! we seen a near by feild earlier that day so we ran in that direction!!! as we were ulmost at the feild we both ran into an old barbed wire fence (the area we lived in was used for farming about a 150 years ago)By this time the thing was already in pursuit. my friend got up to run away but noticed that I was intangled in the fence....he came back and help me out and than we both ran! we noticed there was a old farm house near by and started screaming for help and an old man came out and asked us what was wrong adn we told him that a bear was chassing us in fear that he would not belive us about the "creature"! he ran inot his house and came back packin' heaT! he fired a shot at the "beast"! it didn't even flinch! mabey because of the distance maybe because of the beast itself....
the thing didn't make it past the fence and I was some happy of that or I mgiht not be here right now......
