You seem to equate using your gift with teaching it to only being able to teach it to that particular church choir. Your insistance on this point may allow one to think that Pastor might have some valid points. Have you consciously or unconsciously made the choir YOURS and not the church. Maybe Pastor's conclusion has less to do with the actual teaching, but the entirety of your attitude or personna. I'm throwing this into the mix, from the little you've posted.

No one's said that you can't still use your gift, and create and compose to your hearts delight. Just don't use the church choir as your demo / experimental choir.

SURELY, there has to be some other venue in your area to teach your music ... community choirs, gwma chapters? If not, is there some reason you can't create on?
