I was recently on the web site for the National Association for Negro Musicians, and was truly inspired and lifted to read the stories and obits of the members of this organization. It seems that everybody is college educated and have attained a lot of accolades. I used to entertain thoughts of joining this organization, but feel that I may be considered not of their caliber. I don't want to judge them since I've never been to any of their meetings or events, but I would hope that if I tried to join them I wouldn't be snubbed or put down for not being degreed and accomplished as they are. Don't get me wrong I like classical music along with Negro spirituals and anthmns, but I feel like I would be intimidated and a outsider. That is also, by the way, why I never went to the Thurston Farzier Chorale at the GMWA. Has anybody on the board had any experience with this group and what was your take on how them.
