Posted by Bill Latsha on 6/1/2006, 9:55 am, in reply to "90 Mariner Blue B package " I did read where some early Miatas, with the 1.6 liter engine (A 1990 has this engine) had a problem with the front of the crankshaft. (Short nose Crank) The crank pully would work loose, and then it was a problem to fix it. You might want to have that checked by a MAzda dealer, so you can be sure someone who knows Miatas can assure you it is OK. The 95 you asked about in the other post here has a 1.8 liter engine, with a little more power. Look both cars over closely. They will run 150 to 200,000 miles if properly taken care of. You can judge some of that by how it looks when you check it out. You could take it to Faulkner Mazda In Harrisburg, 3233 Paxton Street. 564-4545. Show them your PACE membership card, and get 10% off of parts and labor. Tell them you are interested in buying, and need them to check it over closely. I don;t deal with thast dealership, so I can't vouch for them. Our club lists them on our newsletter, so they must be "ok". Good Luck!

I am not an expert on the real early Miatas. My first was a '96.
