Ray,
I'm not a PACEr, used to be.... If you've never been out to the Moab area by all means make it a point to attend MOAB IV. Shoot for a three day run to Grand Junction, Colorado on I-70. Get up early and complete the last two or so hours to Moab. As you leave Colorado into Utah you'll be in a huge valley bordered by snow capped mountains. As the sun rises the shadows and colors change constantly. There are two national parks and a state park close by the town of Moab. There will be a "run board" in the lobby of the Host Motel with start times and destinations for runs of 10 to 20 cars to many different destinations all during the day. If you are a senior citizen purchase a "Golden Age Pass" at the entrance to the first Nat'l Park you encounter, it will pay for itself before you leave Moab and it's good for entry to any Nat'l Park in the U.S. during your lifetime. Take a "boonie" hat that will also protect your ears, plenty of sun block, a small cooler with gator-aid or water and be prepared to take a ton of pictures.
