Hi, I own a field, in Burntwood Staffordshire, with the remains of a large building in it. According to local sources this used to a coaching inn, possibly called the Robin Hood. I've cleared some of the foundations/walls and have found lots of cellars. I've been through the censuses and have managed to trace ownership of the building back to 1851. The 1841 for this area is so badly filled in it is impossible to read. 1851 onwards the building was a farm, this fits in with local sources who say it was an inn but became a farm when a different farm became an inn. Any ideas how to research building back beyond 1851 to find out if was ever a coaching inn. Any help (or links) would be appreciated. Cheers. Rich
