Posted by Justin Reay on 30/11/2006, 6:41 pm The building had been the early Lord Admirals' house by the Tudor dockyard, and had a carved chimney-piece (now at Arundel Castle). The Gun was pulled down in ?1807 and the site became an anchor foundry. I would very much like to know when the old building became the Gun (I'm guessing about 1750) and anything about the tavern, its owners etc., and to know if any images exist in any form (it is shown on the 1801 OS map of Deptford). In final research for a book on the Admiralty I have discovered a lot about a Tudor building on Deptford Green, which became the Gun Tavern.
