The Queens Arms still stands at No. 8 George Street. It is now one of Brighton's premier gay venues. The first recorded licensee was T. Gladman in 1859. Harry Hilton was listed as the landlord from 1899-1909. He came between a Mrs Bignell from 1886-1899 and a H. I. Tugnett 1910-1931. The Evening Star is the present CAMRA Sussex Pub of the Year and one of three pubs owned by Dark Star brewery of Ansty, West Susssx. The first recorded licensee was Ann Scott in 1854. 1909 was Alfred Bridle, Harry Hilton was listed in 1911 and then William Jeffreyin 1913. It was then one of eight pubs in Surrey Street. Now it is one of three.
