My Grandfather Frederick Green was ( we believe ) Publican at the Alfington Inn, Alfington nr Ottery St. Mary, Devon. About 1920 to 1930.
He went into the Pub trade with a Horace Russell.
Would anyone know how I can verify this please.
We have a photograph of him sitting outside the Alfington Inn with two other men but have no names for the other men.
Story goes that he drank all the profits and they had to leave the Alfington Inn sometime late 1920's.
I know that the Alfington has now been closed by the present Landlord/Owner and is now a private house, have written to him but no reply.
Any advice welcome as we are now living in Australia and I have run out of ideas !!!
Thanks,
Milly
