I'm sorry it's taken me so long to spot this post Graeme - but Bethnal Green is an area I've researched fairly well. I had not previously heard of this pub though and I don't think it is listed on the London Public Houses website.
Trade directories would be a good source of information. I looked up the address in the 1862 Post Office Directory for London. There is a beerhouse listed at 1 Durham Street, Bethnal Green. The proprietor is given as Thomas Finnett - is that the name you are seeking?
