Am researching Tom Paine and Diss. Anyone know how far back in time the Beehive pub went (he worked on that terrace)? Also, looking at his links with freemasonry (the beehive is a masonic symbol)do pubs called the Cross Keys have any such connection? At a masonic open evening I mentioned a pub of that name and a man said that the freemasons would undoubtedly have met there.
