I lived in the Cannon Inn in the 1940s and 50s. I am trying to find information as to its origin.
It was originally The Spread Eagle and had its name changed to Cannon Inn during the Napoleonic wars when a French ship , its crew and at least one cannon was captured in the river Blyth.Several French prisoners were held in Earsdon village.
