My grandfather George William Kemp was born in 1885 possibly in private qtrs of the pub, The King's Head, at 8 Bow Road, Bromley by Bow, Middlesex. His father George Kemp ran the pub. His older brother Henry Kemp had run the Old Will Somers pub and The Cock both in Whitechapel. I'm not sure of exact dates but their father, Henry Kemp snr had been in the liquor trade since the 1820's. He came from Chilton Foliat/Hungerford area, married a Reading girl and raised 3 children in London.
I would love to find any pictorial info on the pubs and/or the above persons if at all possible!!
My grandfather moved into the legal work, as a clerk, and emigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1912. He knew a clique of like 'remittance men' and with a small fortune behind him he settled in Melbourne. Sadly though i think he suffered a depression as a result of personal losses esp his old friend Robert Ives Jones [they'd gone to school together in Middlesex - i presume] and so just before WW2 he apparently destroyed all his 'mother country' memorabilia. He had a fair bit so my father says. Dad is 90 and has spoken very clearly about only a few crystal clear memories around facts his father had told him.
I've done a fair bit of research via Ancestry and RootsChat et al so have some basic details, but sadly no photos.
Any information will be very much appreciated and i will be glad to convey any info i have to you.
Kind regards
Julie Kemp
