The pub was also a farm in the late 1880`s and into at least 1950`s.in 1881 the pub and farm were run by William Priestman who employed 2 farm workers
A one time landlady was called Mary Car and the pub was known as Mary Cars by Castleford people for many years
I believe the last person to both farm and run the pub was Archie Robinson
Sometime in the late 1960`s the estate sold it to Bentelys Brewrery, and since then a series of landords and managers have run the pub the pub. it is now owned by a local lad Hope this helps
