As is well known 340 has indeed a coach chassis but apart from the engine output, which was originally rated at 218 bhp (a subsequent engine change resulted in a standard 170 bhp unit being fitted), there seems little to distinguisg it from the other Leyland TL11 engine "N" type Tigers. I stand to be corrected but I believe all the Ulsterbus Tiger coaches were rated at 245 bhp and of course had 6-speed manual gearboxes. The only higher rated TL11 engines, at 260 bhp, were fitted to the 16 Mk.1 Goldliners.
