Well I have driven a few Tigers, the two that I think where the best are 1242 and 1269. 1242 has the lightest and most positive steering I have ever come across in a Tiger, it rides well, and if driven as Leyland intended nice smooth gear changes with plenty of grunt from the TL11 engine.
1269 again, rides well, not a rattle from the Alexander body, nice smooth gear changes and a very loud TL11 engine, tho it wouldn't be the fastest Tiger in the world.
Leyland deffo made a drivers bus when the Tiger was being designed I have yet to drive a modern bus or coach that gives me the same road confidence.
The worst Tigers are the Volvo - ZF set up, such an unrefined chassis.
The tigers are away a week or so and already I miss them, no more gear changing, the growl of the TL 11 gone, the drivers bus of the last 25 years gone. An era of quality buses has definitely passed.
ps, still, a leopard would be my first choice :)
