The question has arisen on a posting as to the possibility of 2648 being withdrawn.
As I understand it there is no immediate intention to withdraw the 26xx Tigers - I presume the posting is discussing SXI 2648 - but I do believe that the 26xx will go before the 14xx and that the first to go will be those in the 2601 - 3660 batch. I do not know the reason but maybe someone can enlighten us further.
I doubt very much that 2648 is being withdrawn yet, as it seems premature, but with so many new vehicles due, and with the cutbacks requiring less vehicles, anything can happen. My own personal opinion is that all remaining Tigers will be withdrawn by July 2010 from scheduled services, 50 or so will stay on resrve until the end of the year and possibly some do schools for another year before most head to the famous Ballymena outstation (hopefully!)
