My only suggestion is to not stay at the Econo Lodge near the Metro Beach Ramp off the interstate. I believe its the Red Roof in Off Little Mack Road that is not bad. Our bass club, as well as the professionals when they fish there use that hotel during tournament weekends. There are rooms right off the parking lot, so you can plug in your boat and be ready to go. As for fishing, well the Metro beach area down to 9 mile tower is all good for fishing, so you won't have to travel far. I know our club will be there opening weekend on June 21 for a tournament, so I'd make reservations soon, because the hotels will book up fast.
