Hi Dave, the difference between the openers will give us Canucks some extra time on the Lake
......Erie fishing is just incredible. We are fishing New York waters were the special regs season opened the first Sat in May, you are only allowed to keep one fish, 15" min. so it's really just a trophy fish that encourages C & R. I see trailer plates in the parking lot form all over, it's just an unbelievable fish! The fish are huge, massive girths due to pre-spawn conditions and a huge forage base, I've never seen smallies that look like this on Clair. Most of our success is coming on suspending jerk baits, just a blast to fish with the clear water, and some fish on the follow up with tubes and grubs. hair jigs were working wonders early in the coller water. The fish are fairly shallow(staging to move up on the beds) and with the amount of rock, algea and zebras, dragging tubes is not the best option(now anyways). If you need specifics, I'd be glad to steer ya in the right direction.
Good luck down at the TOT next month!
Al
