Hi everybody, I have qualified as an OT in the UK recently and I have discovered that I suffer from social anxiety. This disorder makes my life difficult at work, as I go to great lengths avoiding presentations, or making/answering phone calls. Also attending formal meetings where i have to speak up distress me. Im currently looking for a hospital job but the thought of attending ward or multi disciplinary meetings really bother me. During my OT training I was constantly put down and told i was quiet and not proactive enough. I cry myself to sleep because i cant talk to anyone about this and telling my doctor is out of the question. Are there any OTs who have a similar problem, and if so how do you deal with it?
