Posted by jenny_pi although i dont have the same prob as you, i hope u dont mind that i write you.. anyway, if thats what u feel. social anxiety, its hard to deal with superiors with that.. anyway, are u sure u really have that prob in the first place? im sure its normal for anyone to fear their superiors and stuff.. but that should not stop u to do something u love..like working as an OT.. u have so much to give to ur patients.. u can start getting out of ur shell little by little.. just know that u can do it! hi paris,
: Hi everybody, I have qualified as an OT in the
: UK recently and I have discovered that I
: suffer from social anxiety. This disorder
: makes my life difficult at work, as I go to
: great lengths avoiding presentations, or
: making/answering phone calls. Also attending
: formal meetings where i have to speak up
: distress me. Im currently looking for a
: hospital job but the thought of attending
: ward or multi disciplinary meetings really
: bother me. During my OT training I was
: constantly put down and told i was quiet and
: not proactive enough. I cry myself to sleep
: because i cant talk to anyone about this and
: telling my doctor is out of the question. Are
: there any OTs who have a similar problem, and
: if so how do you deal with it?
