Try working in home health setting. You have very little contact with groups of people. The setting is more relaxed as you are working in patients home and not being watched by supervisors. As a alternative I would suggest long term care (nursing home) but home health is a more pleasant environment to work in! Other wise, work as a travel therapist and have fun!!
: hi paris,

: Hi everybody, I have qualified as an OT in
: the
: UK recently and I have discovered that I
: suffer from social anxiety. This disorder
: makes my life difficult at work, as I go to
: great lengths avoiding presentations, or
: making/answering phone calls. Also attending
: formal meetings where i have to speak up
: distress me. Im currently looking for a
: hospital job but the thought of attending
: ward or multi disciplinary meetings really
: bother me. During my OT training I was
: constantly put down and told i was quiet and
: not proactive enough. I cry myself to sleep
: because i cant talk to anyone about this and
: telling my doctor is out of the question. Are
: there any OTs who have a similar problem, and
: if so how do you deal with it?
