Hello.
I am a doctoral student at Alliant International University in Sacramento. My dissertation is a qualitative study entitled "Motivating Factors to Participate or Not Participate in the 2004 Gay Marriage Ceremonies." My study includes both people who did get married and people who did not get married. The only criteria for being in my study is that people must have been in their primary relationship for 3+ years as of Feb. 2004 and lived within 300 miles of SF. Participation is entirely confidential and I explain all the ways I maintain confidentiality to prospective participants. Participation involves doing a face to face taped interview with me (names aren't used and tapes are later destroyed) which usually lasts about 20 minutes, completing a 10 item demographic questionnaire and possibly taking a brief follow up phone call later. I don't need both members of a couple to participate, but it's great if they both want to. If they do, I interview each person separately. I expect to continue doing interviews until November. I still need people who did not participate, but I especially need people who did at this point. Thanks for considering participation in this timely research.
