Yes the tracks are disappearing. Fortunately nearly all are owned by either the MTA or Metrolink and at least half of the old ROWs have been or will be converted to Metro Rail/Metro Liner or Metrolink lines.

: I AM HOPING SOMEONE CAN HELP ME . I'M
: LOOKING
: FOR OLD P.E. RAILROAD TRACKS STILL VISIBLE
: THROUGHOUT THE GREATER LOS ANGELES AREA. IS
: THERE A GUIDEBOOK OR MAPS THAT CAN HELP ME
: LOCATE THESE TRACKS ? THE OLDER THE LOCATION
: THE BETTER.
:
: Unfortunately, there are not many locations
: where PE tracks are still visible. There
: are still some of the old stations around
: but even they are few and far between. Some
: books that might prove helpful in your
: search would be: Stations of the Pacific
: Electric and one by Spencer Crump entitled
: Ride the Big Red Cars. The nice thing about
: the latter is that, in some editions, he
: lists in the appendix where all the lines
: ran. That might be a good place to start.
: I do know that in Santa Ana they have
: preserved part of the right of way complet
: with tracks. Hope this helps. Good luck in
: your hunt.
