I had not looked at PE message board in a
while, my hard drive crashed. Now I'm back
and I share Bob's memories re the Zebra
striped green and black striped patterns
of the seats. I also remember the arcing
in the tunnel and the lights. I don't remember
if the cars were linked two at a time.

: I was 5 yrs old when my parents moved to
: Glendale. My father was an accountant for
: Amerada Petroleum which had space in the
: S.T.B. He rode the red cars every day from
: glendale to S.T. Bldg. As a child, I often
: rode the cars all the way and then back for
: the adventure. I still recall the musty
: smell of the subway mixed with ozone from
: electric flashes. I recall those lonely
: light bulbs flashing by in arched recesses
: in walls of tunnel. My dad remembers riding
: wooden cars and commented on seeing the
: boards moving against each other. There was
: a high trestle somewhere towards glendale
: and I closed my eyes when we went over it.
: I can still picture the dashboards at each
: end and the olive green and black zebra
: striped seats. And of course the little
: turning wheel with a clicking sound from the
: deposit box. I miss all of that.
