Hello! Hasn't anyone heard about the Greedy, Money-hungry developers who built a 275-unit monstrosity which effectively blocks any thought of ever using The Tunnel for anything other than scenery for the tenents? Give up the idea; it's a tunnel from Nowhere to Nowhere!
And, that's that!

: Theoretically the tunnel can be used again for
: transit purposes - the tunnel has been
: sitting for 50 years, unmaintained and many
: earthquakes have happened since 1955, but
: the structural integrity of the tunnel is
: still very good.
:
: The thing is, no one has proposed any future
: use of the tunnel.

: i have been in the tunnel a few times.
: there
: are definite signs that people have been all
: through there, but nobody lives in there
: now. it's too toxic too stay for too long.
: there are natural springs at the end, where
: the tunnel is blocked off. water also drips
: down from above, making beautiful cave
: formations. i've read alot of things about
: it, but i haven't come across any real
: reasons why the tunnel couldn't be used
: again, for mass transportation, or something
: else. check out my photos to see inside
: this thing.

: I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE INSIDE OF THE OLD
: PACIFIC ELCTRIC RAILWAY COMPANY TUNNEL. I
: HAVE ASKED MANY PEOPLE ABOUT IT, AND THEY
: SAID IT COULD NOT BE USED ANYMORE, BECAUSE
: OF THE HOMELESS PEOPLE THAT LIVE WITHIN IT
: AND THE LEAKY WATER SOURCES.
